A Day Exploring the Balboa Peninsula

January 01, 2018

Rightly named after the Spanish explorer Vasco Nunez de Balboa, the Balboa Peninsula has a new discovery waiting each time you go. One of its most famous is the Balboa Pavilion, locally known as "the Peninsula," which dates back to 1906. Not only is it the oldest standing building in the area, but it is also currently a marine facility. Explore the area’s three-mile stretch of restaurants, bars, and shops for an exciting evening out on the town with friends. If you’ve got the little ones with you, the Balboa Fun Zone is nearby and a great place for them to run and play. But be sure to stop by for sunset. What makes the Peninsula so popular is its dreamy surroundings of the harbor and Pacific Ocean on either side. No matter which side you choose, sunsets in Newport Beach are unbeatable, and the Peninsula provides one of the best views in town.
